Augusto Fernandez 's adventure in MotoGP has practically come to an end. Dumped by KTM in recent months, it seems that there is no team in the top class willing to bet on him for 2025. The Spaniard of the Tech3 team is therefore forced to look around with the goal of finding a seat to start again.
On the subject, however, the GasGas rider has been clear enough to have declared that he is not interested in a return to Moto2, if anything, that he wants to focus on Superbike. In this regard, according to what we learned in the paddock at Most, there has already been contact with Yamaha.
While in the Crescent team the 2025 seats are already sorted with Rea and Locatelli, it remains to be seen what will be the evolution in GRT, that is, the structure under Filippo Conti. Remy Gardner must renew his contract and this seems to be a mere formality unless there is a resounding call from MotoGP with Pramac. On the other side of the box, however, there is the expiring contract of Dominique Aegerter, protagonist so far of a first part of the Championship below expectations.
Indeed, there is no point beating about the bush: the Swiss is struggling and there are big clouds on the horizon regarding his 2025. Yamaha is closely monitoring the situation with the goal of figuring out how to move. Here, then, Augusto may become a viable alternative should the adventure with Dominique come to an end.
For the Japanese manufacturer it would be a kind of Gardner-style operation, when two years ago it secured the Australian leftwithout a ride by KTM. For the moment there has been contact between the parties, so it remains to be seen how the negotiations will evolve. Certainly concluding with Yamaha would be quite a coup for Augusto Fernandez, who would have a contract with the manufacturer.
