Toprak Razgatlioglu. Him again. The Turkish rider took the pole in the morning and Race 1 in the afternoon, playing an absolute starring role. Nothing seems to bother him as he keeps making a difference on the BMW, taking the lead in the World Championship.
On his part there is satisfaction and at the same time awareness for the growth shown and the steps forward made in these last races.
"Even if it doesn't look like it from the outside, it was a fun race," he began. "In qualifying, I got a good pole, and we managed to win the first race of the weekend. Yesterday, in the simulation, I had good feelings. And, today, I tried to do the same as yesterday, but trying to push a bit more. In the last laps, I saved my energy, because I didn't want to repeat last year's finish and, in the end, nothing happened."
From the outside it looks like you have everything under control. Is that really the case?
"I'm always relaxed riding the bike, even when someone thinks I ride like a madman. If someone tries to get close, I obviously push harder. The lead increased, and as a result, I held my position and managed. In the end, winning by a tenth or five seconds doesn't change things much."
Toprak, are you surprised to see Petrux and Iannone on the podium?
"I saw that Petrucci was catching up, and I'm surprised about Andrea, since it's his first time here in Most. They both rode very well. Plus, Petrux had a bad fall, and I congratulate them both because they did very well."
Through it all ,Viegas tried to take off your fake mustache.
"True! But I wanted to tell him not to touch it. I took it off only after the photos, realizing that, without it, I'm younger and look a few years younger," he said, jokingly. "Without the mustache, I look younger."
Do you think this Toprak is unbeatable?
"It's too early to say, because there are still so many races to go. My body, however, is just as good as it was last year. The only difference is that, this year, my head is stronger, and I'm concrete. In fact, I think I've grown mentally."
You also gave Iannone a hand in qualifying today ...
"Of course! We worked together. In fact, tonight we wrote to each other," he joked. "I'd like to thank him, because he was very helpful the moment I raised the bike again in the qualifying lap."
