MotoGP: Fractured index finger and severe rib contusion for Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez's fall was very violent. The Team Gresini rider lost his front at Turn 11. As he tried to hold the bike up, the rear regained grip and threw him into the air. At that point, the MotoGP bikes are on the edge of 200 km/h. At first, the Spanish rider seemed unharmed from the accident, to the extent that he had gotten back on the bike and reached the fastest time in FP2.

However, he then ended up stopping to go to the medical center. Tests showed a fracture of the index finger of his left hand and a major contusion of his rib cage. The doctors gave Marc the okay to get back on the bike, and he'll have to go through the Q1 tomorrow, since he couldn't attempt a time attack.

"The sensations on the bike were really good, but it's obvious that the fall in the afternoon strongly conditioned my first day here at the Sachsenring," Marquez explained  "The fracture in my finger doesn't worry me. My rib at the moment is what bothers me the most, and it's what prevented me from continuing the session. Now I'm going to rest, and tomorrow we'll see what condition I'll be in physically."
