Miguel Oliveira is one of the riders on the market. In fact, a big question mark is hovering over the Portuguese rider's future, because at the moment it is still unknown what he will do in 2025. With Trackhouse the renewal has not yet come and so he has started to look around. On the negotiating front, there are indeed a few free seats, and Oliveira does not intend to close the door on any team.
"At the moment I find myself in the position of having to wait," he said, "obviously I've talked to some teams and it's up to them to make a decision about what to do for 2025. I personally would like to continue with this project, but there may be alternatives. Pramac is certainly super interesting, since it is a new project that then allows you to have a contract with the manufacturer."
Oliveira then goes into detail, analyzing everything with awareness.
"Obviously you have to accept a bike that to date is not at the top with the others. There are then two free seats in Ducati as well. Unfortunately I have to wait and see how the market will evolve. Certainly among the many aspects that involve a choice is also the fact of how much a team really wants a rider."
With the market chapter closed, we then spoke about the weekend ahead.
"I hope to have an easier weekend at Sachsenring than last week. Unfortunately in Assen I struggled and we will see what happens. In fact, I hope to have more speed and competitiveness since in Holland it did not go as I would have liked."
At the TT Miguel did indeed had something bitter to chew on.
"While I was doing the long lap I tried to push and then ended up on the ground. In the end I finished 15th, but my race was gone. For sure this weekend we will have to talk in the safety commission about some things like the warning, which can be disturbing, and the long lap penalty, which is shorter on some tracks than others."
One final consideration was about the difference between the '23 and '24 bikes.
"The RS-GP23 is easier than this year's bike. The RS-GP24 is a step forward in terms of performance, but I think it is more up and down. In fact, I think last year's bike can offer a better balance."
