SBK, Bassani: "Petrucci? I tried to attack him on the last lap, but he was a hero."

"Danilo was incredible this weekend and I'm very happy for him. Toprak? For me it's not a surprise: you could see from the first practice that he can be fast by riding in a more relaxed way."

Axel Bassani returned to the Top 5, finishing the weekend in Misano with a sixth and a seventh place. Two results that demonstrate the improvement accomplished in the saddle of the Ninja ZX-10RR of the future rider of the new Bimota by Kawasaki Racing team.

"Today was better. I was lucky in the Superpole Race because there were several crashes in front of me, which allowed me to recover many positions and start sixth. It's easier to deal with the first laps starting from the second row, and in Race 2 I tried to manage the race and figure out how to be consistent until the end, " recounted the rider from Feltre. "I had some problems with the electronics, because even though I've done a few races with the Kawasaki, I have to work more on the bike than I did with the Ducati. However, I am happy, both for the position and because this race allowed me to understand several things."

A more than positive weekend for the Veneto rider, which went beyond his expectations.

"I had good expectations for this weekend and I thought I would finish between eighth and 10th, but instead I ended up finishing sixth and seventh in the two races today. It's always nice to finish in the Top 10, also because the level is very high this year. I'm happy with the work we did ," Bassani said, explaining the key to the step forward made today, "We changed something but nothing big. We try to improve the bike in every practice session: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. We are trying to find a base and we still have a lot of work to do, but we keep working."

Speaking then about the battle in the last laps with Petrucci, Axel wanted to pay tribute to his rival's great performance, "I tried to attack Danilo on the last lap, but he was incredible this weekend. He was a hero, because to face three races like that, in this heat, is really incredible. I'm very happy for him. Hats off."

As for the performance of Razgatlioglu, the star of the weekend, the KRT rider said, "For me Toprak is not a surprise. You could see from the first practice that he was riding very relaxed, he was fast and he was much better than last year. Even with the Yamaha he was fast but he had to push hard and I think he was always on the limit. Being fast is never easy, but this season he is managing to be fast by riding in a much more relaxed way. He is doing a crazy job because if you can afford a stoppie before the finish line it means you are much faster than everyone else."
