SBK: World Superbike Championship to be held at Misano until 2029

As we waited to experience another intense day of racing in Misano, the news arrived that will make all Superbike fans happy: the Emilia-Romagna Round will remain on the calendar until 2029. The World Championship reserved for production-based machienry and the Misano World Circuit "Marco Simoncelli" announced this morning that they have extended their partnership for another five years, thanks to the new agreement signed with Santa Monica SpA that consolidates Misano's role in the championship calendar, of which it has been a stalwart appointment since 1991.

"We are thrilled to continue our long relationship with the Misano World Circuit. The Emilia-Romagna Round is a key event for World SBK, known for its passionate fans and excellent organization," said the championship's Executive Director, Gregorio Lavilla, expressing his enthusiasm for the renewal of the partnership. "This extension through 2029 reflects our commitment to bringing world-class racing to this historic venue. We look forward to many more years of exciting races and memorable moments here in Misano."

Words echoed by Giovanni Copioli, FMI President. "The combination of World SBK and MWC is part of the history of this competition, enriched this year with the debut of the women's world championship. The FMI applauds this agreement, which guarantees a great sporting event for our country and has significant effects in nurturing the passion for motorsport in the new generations," he said. "We have more and more young female riders and riders who are passionate about it, and the events generate enthusiasm and build our future."

Speaking of the importance of the association, Andrea Albani, managing director of Misano World Circuit, added, "Major events like WorldSBK fuel the flywheel of interest in motorsport and at the same time the development of a long and articulated supply chain, to which we have given more and more value. The opportunities therefore multiply: commercial appointments, testing of manufacturers, increase of the network of companies at MWC Square are the positive and concrete effect, up to the organization of ITS Makers to train quality and useful professionals for companies. The renewal until 2029 generates certainty and thus optimism among entrepreneurs in our world."
