MotoGP, Marini: "Espargaro in Honda? We hope some Aprilia designs pass."

"Having accumulated so much experience at Noale, he knows every secret, so Aleix would be perfect as a tester. I still want to talk to the team's top management, because I hope they keep Bradl as well."

MotoGP: Marini:

For now, it's only a rumor circulated by the interested party himself, just hours after announcing his retirement at the end of the season. Aleix Espargaro could be entering 2025 in the guise of a Honda test rider. A rumor welcomed as a cure-all for Luca Marini who, trailing permanently at the tail end of the pack, would like nothing more than to catch up. And, of course, what better way than to rely on a rider with as much experience as Aleix.

Disappointed by both his home weekend at Mugello and the test day on the Tuscan track, the rider from the Marche region at first hesitated then later expressed approval with regard to the hypothesis of the valuable addition.

"I don't know anything but, if it were true, it would be great. He's a veteran. Plus, having been with Aprilia for so many years, he knows all they're secrets. It would be great if he also brought with him some documents or something unknown," he said jokingly while interviewed by AS. "That's because, if the rider can explain the sensations he feels on the bike and provide some indications, the engineers can build the bike."

The 34-year-old's arrival from Noale means there's probably going to be a farewell. "In my opinion, he would be perfect, but I would feel bad for Stefan Bradl with whom I have a very good relationship. But, who knows, he could stay as well since, for example, they have three different guys in charge of development in KTM. I'm going to speak with the manufacturer to better understand what their plans are," he concluded.
