MotoGP, Bagnaia: "I don't want the atmosphere on the team be ruined by whoever's coming to Ducati"

"For the rest, I want to stay out of this issue. Mugello is special, and the fans make it magical. The difficulties in the Sprint? I just need a bit of luck."

MotoGP: Bagnaia:

Bagnaia is a rare bird in the paddock right now. Along with very few other riders, he has the privilege of just observing the market movements,  since he already has a signed contract in his pocket. "I'm a bit jealous that I don't have any options for the future," he said jokingly, as Martin and Marquez were bombarded with questions about where they'll be going.

Many envy your situation ...
"It's nice. The relationship I have with Ducati is good. We chose each other, and I couldn't ask for anything more. I love my bike, I have a great team, I'm very happy, and having a contract gives me stability. I can focus on my goals."

Doesn't the gossip bother you?
"It doesn't change anything for me. I think it's just lots of talkWriting articles about decisions before they're even made ... it's quicker if you just wait."

You had nothing to do with the choice of your teammate?
"Ducati asked me for an opinion, but I don't want to give it. The only thing I care about is that no one ruins the atmosphere in the team now, because it took years to create it. Otherwise, I want to stay out of it."

You're better off thinking about Mugello?
"I love this weekend, not only because of the track, but because we're in Italy. Ducati is doing great here, and the fans make everything more magical. Speaking of the track, braking and long corners are challenging. It's perfect for my riding style."

There's the Sprint curse to defeat ...
"I'll be prepared, as always. The problem isn't that I'm slow. Just look at the last three races. I could've won in Jerez, but I fell because of a contact. In Le Mans, I had an electronics problem, and I fell in Barcelona when I had more than a half second lead. The potential is there, but I need a little more luck."

Could rain mess up your plans?
"If it's wet, we'll at least be able to do laps in those conditions. We've never been able to do that on this track. Understanding the limit and fixing the set-up is important."
