MotoGP, Martin: "Having Marquez as a teammate would be great"

"It's already a dream to be able to battle with him, since he's the fastest ever, along with Rossi. My future? I'd prefer to know it already. Doubts about myself? I'm proving what I'm worth."

MotoGP: Martin:

Currently, Jorge Martin is leading the overall riders championship, with 38 points ahead of Bagnaia. He feels like he has the upper hand as he looks towards the future and has never-concealed his desire to replace Enea Bastianini on the official Ducati team. But, during an interview with Cadena SER at the inauguration of a dealership of the Borgo Panigale constructor in Valencia - between one budget and another, and a reflection on his own growth - he baited the hook to see if, in Italy, they'll be interested in catching it.

"In 2023, my weak point had been the start of the championship. That's why I tried to concentrate as much as possible on understanding the bike, so I can be competitive right away and create a good foundation of points," he decalred his intent for consistency.

Incredibly, the Pramac rider revealed that he's not a staunch biker in everyday life. "I own a Panigale V4 and a StreetFighter, but I don't like to ride motorcycles in everyday life. Do I have a license? Something, yes. For a couple of years, I think I did the A1 on a Vespa, but it wasn't easy. Now I'd like to achievet the A2 instead," he revealed, before returning to the current season and, in particular, the recent Le Mans GP that went perfectly for him.

"Having fought with Pecco and Marquez and continuing to do so by beating them gives value to my performance . Some people might have doubts about me, but winning often makes me strong, even if it's not easy to confirm each time. That said, becoming champions shouldn't be considered the goal but rather the consequence. One has to enjoy the process," he philosophized.

After admitting that, at this point in the year, he'd have preferred to already have an answer regarding his destination for 2025 - so that he could face the upcoming challenges with greater peace of mind - the Martinator reiterated his desire of not wanting to leave the Italian brand. "Being promoted to the official team would be like squaring the circle, but this decision isn't up to me. Shard the box with Marquez? I'd love to work closely with the greatest in history, along with Rossi. Battling with him is already special, but having him as a partner would be great. Even if I managed to beat him for now, it's never a walk in the park," he concluded with a compliment to his compatriot.
