Razlan Razali has said farewell to MotoGP and his RNF team, born from the ashes of the Sepang Racing Team when, at the end of 2021, Petronas decided to abandon the premier class. It all started in 2014, when the Malaysian team debuted in Moto2 (Johann Zarco was also among its ranks) before moving to Moto3 the following year. The objective was to bring talents from Malaysia (such as Khairrudin and Norrodin) and the Asian area (Sasaki debuted with the Malaysian team) to the world stage. In 2019 the entry into MotoGP with Yamaha and Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli as riders, and then opening the doors in 2021 to Valentino Rossi. 2022 is the year of the birth of RNF, with which Dovizioso raced, a season that also marked his divorce from Yamaha.

In fact, at the end of the year Razali sold the majority of the team to Cryptodata and decided to move to Aprilia. However, things did not go according to plan and the new majority shareholder did not keep the promises made. The Romanian company seems to have left a hole of around 8 million euros in the world championship: not only did it not finance the team, but it did not even pay Dorna for the sponsorship of the Austrian Grand Prix.

The RNF team is destined to change ownership and, following an operation also supported by Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola, investors have been found in the USA. In fact, the new course for RNF will be announced shortly with the entry of the Americans from Trackhouse. It is a lifestyle brand already present in NASCAR headed by Justin Marks, who has a past as a racing driver and also built a karting track in North Carolina.

While waiting for an official statement, Razali entrusted his thoughts to social networks: "it has been an amazing run. A once in a lifetime opportunity to manage and own a MotoGP team in the World Championship. We know what it’s like to win and especially in losing. Worked with the most amazing team members from all over the world. We discovered a world champion in Fabio, we were nearly world champion with Frankie, we had GOAT Vale, MotoGP legend Dovi, we took the risk with Darryn and finally the fastest dentist in the world with Miguel and a champion in waiting Raul. The team was my extended family, my second home and we should be proud of what we have achieved and become. What lies ahead? It will be another beginning, albeit a different one, and I shall watch with the greatest encouragement and excitement. Let's go team!”.
