2023 is preparing for the final sprint (the GPs of Malaysia, Qatar and Valencia will decide who will be the world champion between Bagnaia and Martin), but it is already time to think about next season. Dorna and FIM today communicated the MotoGP test calendar for 2024, with some confirmations and changes.
As per tradition, the season will be inaugurated in Malaysia, with the Shakedown: 3 days of testing (1-3 February) reserved for test riders and rookies (therefore only Pedro Acosta, barring sensational market shocks. The regular riders, however, will take to the track in Sepang a few days later, from the 6-8. The Qatar GP will once again be the opening round of the championship and the last two days of winter testing will be scheduled on the Losail circuit: the 19-20 February (a couple of weeks before the start of the championship).
During the season, however, the riders will have one more day of testing, the total increasing from 2 to 3. The decision to increase the testing days was taken in mutual agreement with the manufacturers, the teams, the riders and Michelin, which need to develop the new front tyre that will be introduced in 2024. So, to the tests on the Monday after the Jerez and Misano GPs, another one will be added at Mugello.
As per tradition, the test day in Valencia is also confirmed, the Tuesday following the last Grand Prix of the year.
