MotoGP, Bezzecchi: “I'm almost back in shape”

“A tough Friday due to the high temperatures, but good overall,” Marco Bezzecchi described the inaugural day of the MotoGP tests for the new stage at the Buddh International Circuit. Ahead of everyone in the FP1 (interim) in the morning, the Mooney VR46 Racing Team rider guaranteed himself direct access to the Q2 of tomorrow’s official qualifications thanks to a fifth position reached in the afternoon session.

The former Moto2 World Champion stopped the clock at 1'45"202, four tenths slower than his teammate and record holder of the day, Luca Marini. Time references that will be destined to further drop, as the riders become more familiar with the circuit designed by Hermann Tilke: “I like the layout. The third sector requires a lot of precision, since it has various curves in rapid succession. If you get one wrong, you risk compromising everything. The first corner? At that point, it’s difficult to brake the bike. In fact, I made several mistakes. You have to be careful to avoid making a mistake when setting the change of direction at the second turn.”
