A few more weeks and we should finally see Enea Bastianini back on the bike again. 2023 was born under an unlucky star for the Ducati rider: in the Portimao sprint race he was hit by the bike of Marini, who crashed in an attempt to overtake him, breaking his right shoulder blade. It was a more serious injury than expected, as Enea realized at Jerez, when he tried to get back on the saddle and then gave up. At Le Mans he stayed at home and now has another three weeks to fully recover from the injury.

"We strongly hope that Enea will return at Mugello, it's almost certain, but we will decide it after the last check he will do on the Monday before the Italian Grand Prix" explained the Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi in our Bar Sport, which you can see again in full above.

“He won't be at 100% because the problem with the scapula is very complicated, it involves nerves and muscles. I believe and hope that he can race and score some points” he explained.

The Beast's season is compromised, not only has he lost many points, but he will also have to get used to the 2023 Desmosedici, which he has virtually only ridden in the winter tests.

“Enea's gap after Mugello will be a very big one, certainly over 100 points, so he will have the right and the duty to bring home as many points as possible until the end of the year - assured Tardozzi - Then, in the last few races, we'll see how the championship will look and we will understand if it will be right to ask Enea to lend a hand to Pecco. Until then, however, Bastianini will have carte blanche, never put limits on providence".

He will come to Mugello 94 points behind Bagnaia, the championship leader. On paper nothing is impossible, last year Pecco recovered from -91 with fewer races and no sprint races.

“We think that Enea could have fought for the title this year, but there are many other important positions to reach. Finishing 3rd is better than finishing 10th, we will give him the opportunity to do the best championship possible” concluded Tardozzi.
