Our very own Carlo Pernat was unable to see his man Enea Bastianini in action in the race, but he certainly didn't forget to comment on the race for us over a glass of Prosecco DOC. From the competitiveness of the KTM to the problems of Yamaha and Honda, with a word about Bagnaia who now seems to have no real rivals for the title. Here is what he had to say about Sunday’s GP.

"In my opinion, this Grand Prix in Jerez demonstrated a lot of things. First, I'd say that the hierarchies of the bikes have changed a bit, we've all always said that Aprilia was the leading challenger for Ducati, but at this point KTM has popped up and it's not the first time. The work that they have been doing in KTM, especially by the Italian ex-Ducati technicians, is good. The results arrived earlier than they thought, and it is no coincidence. On the other hand, wherever they put their hands, from motocross to other disciplines, KTM always do an excellent job. So, I'd say welcome to the role of challenger to Ducati.

Ducati triumphed in a big way with an intelligent race by Bagnaia. When he saw that he had something more he went away. Even if Binder, whom we call a mutt, is someone who never gives up even if he is missing something. Pecco demonstrated that if he doesn't lose concentration, he is the strongest of all. If in the end it becomes a world championship of Bagnaia versus the rest if you like, who are the challengers? He put a brake on himself with two zeros and the only problem he has is these lapses in concentration. Then let's not forget that he's working alone, because Bastianini hasn't been in the official team since the first Grand Prix. And sorting the bike out without a teammate is difficult.

Yamaha has light and shade. Leaving aside some penalties that they gave to Quartararo and Morbidelli that I don't understand, as well as the one to Bagnaia ... let's say clearly that you must not allow yourself to be overtaken and you must stay on a rail. But in the end Quartararo was lapping with the times of the leaders, so I'd say it wasn't too bad in the end. Both he and Franco were lapping fast.

A lot of shade and not much light for Aprilia. Vinales was lapping fast, but if he doesn't get off to a good start, he’ll be looking at the world championship title through a pair of binoculars. Honestly, I expected something more from Aleix Espargarò. He is the one who carried out the development, he is the captain of the team. A complete and utter disaster for Honda, one swallow doesn’t make a summer and what happened in Austin is the classic swallow. Unfortunately, both Rins and Mir flew away here, Honda is increasingly in crisis, and I don't expect Marc to return soon. I suspect both he and Bastianini will miss Le Mans, but I hope I'm wrong because we miss them as characters!"
