MotoGP: Morbidelli penalized with long lap, Yamaha’s appeal rejected

Franco Morbidelli will have to face a Long Lap Penalty in the upcoming race. The FIM Stewards decided to penalize the Yamaha rider for having caused the accident in the Jerez Sprint Race in which Alex Marquez, Marco Bezzecchi, and Augusto Fernandez were involved.

The team appealed the decision but, after hearing the parties, the Stewards rejected the appeal.

The Stewards then explained that Franco was “too ambitious” in attempting to overtake Alex, causing a contact with the Gresini team rider and his fall.
