MotoGP: BREAKING NEWS - Enea Bastianini withdraws from the Jerez Grand Prix

Enea Bastianini has opted to withdraw from the Jerez Grand Prix. He will now not take part in qualifying or in the two races (the sprint and the regular one). Already yesterday the Ducati rider had explained how his physical condition was critical. He broke his right scapula at Portimao and although no surgery was required, the Beast was unable to train for a month.

Yesterday the riding pain was strong, but it was more the lack of muscle tone that did not allow him to be fast. "My target is to score a few points, if it's not possible then there would be no point in racing" he told us yesterday. Today, in FP3, he did 5 laps and realised that it wasn't possible to continue. Better to rest to be in a better condition in two weeks at Le Mans.

Davide Tardozzi, Ducati team manager, told Sky: "It’s too painful for Enea, it would be absurd to take risks. It makes no sense to race".
