Dovizioso tempted by the DTM: "We're talking about it, the team is very excited"

Last week Andrea tested the Project 1 BMW M4 GT3 in Hockenheim, lapping 4 seconds off the best time of Marco Wittman, 2 times winner of that championship

Auto - News: Dovizioso tempted by the DTM:

Will the DTM be a part of Andrea Dovizioso's future? "Maybe," was his response. Dovi was at Hockenheim last week to test the M4 GT3 of the Project 1 team, for which two-times German championship winner Marco Wittmann races.

“I got a call from a really excited team and a week later I went to test. The car is great, it goes very fast” the rider from Forlì told us in one of our interviews.

Colleagues from Motorsport-Total.com, on the other hand, told us how fast it went. In his last exit Andrea set the best time in 1'41"813, against 1'37"712 of Wittmann. So we're talking about just over 4 seconds, which aren't that many if we think that Andrea had never driven that car and had to share it with Marco. Logically, there is ample room for improvement if he decides to embark on this new adventure.

"True professionals race in the DTM, the level is high - Dovizioso confided to us - We're talking, they're really excited, but I'm the type of person who wants to do things in a certain way".

What is certain is that there isn't much time left to decide, because the first official tests of the championship will take place on 15 and 16 April at the Red Bull Ring, and the team is looking for a second driver.

Perhaps Dovi will decide to follow the path of Valentino Rossi, who is driving an M4 GT3 this year, but in the GT World Challenge Europe. The DTM is not new for him, in 2019 he took part in the Misano race in an Audi R8, finishing 12th in race 1 and 15th in race 2.

If they are roses, they will bloom.
