He was one of the stars of the Portimão weekend. We’re talking about Marco Bezzecchi and his third place in Sunday’s race. After he fell during the Sprint Race, the Mooney rider was able to move forward, reaching his second podium in the top class after Assen.
This is the best calling card to present at Rio Hondo for Bezz.
“The weekend in Portimão went in the right direction, despite my fall during the sprint race,” he stated. “We have to continue like this, knowing that I won’t be able to fight for the podium in all the races. But, inside, I want to be competitive. And, with the guys on the team, we’re trying to give it our all every time.”
Marco is clear about his ambitions.
“My goal is to fight for victory, which would be my dream. I don’t want to put pressure on myself, but I know we can get there. The path we’re on now is the right one.”
Bagnaia is certainly one of his rivals, after his overall success in Portugal.
“Pecco is used to getting on the podium, while I was more excited than he was last weekend. Sharing the podium with anyone from the Academy is always great.”
During the press conference on Thursday, they showed Bezzecchi a video about his family.
“It was a really great experience. I had never asked my parents what they thought of me and how they experienced my races.”
Finally, he spoke about the recent controversies and penalties.
“It’s very difficult to apply certain rules under certain conditions, since each situation is different from the next. It would be good to have clarity from race direction, but I understand it’s extremely difficult. However, the safety commission allows all of us riders to discuss things among ourselves, in order to arrive at solutions so that everything works for the best.”
