SBK: Ducati tempts Danilo Petrucci for the 24 Hours of Le Mans

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is certainly one of the most highly anticipated events on the entire World Endurance calendar. This year the French round will open the Championship and is scheduled for mid-April on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th.

EWC Ducati, the benchmark team from Borgo Panigale that participates in the Endurance World Championship with Xavi Forés, David Checa and Chaz Davies, will also be at the French classic event.

According to what we have learned in the last few hours, Forés will not be lining up at the start of the race, because in that period he will become a father. With this in mind, team owner Uwe Reinhardt has taken steps to sound out the path that leads to Danilo Petrucci.

The rider from Terni has therefore received an offer to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Ducati V4. While on the one hand the idea is appealing for Petrux, on the other he needs to consider his commitment in SBK, given that the following week there is the Assen round. Precisely for this reason, the Barni team rider would like to focus all his energies on the World Championship and the odds to see him at the start of the 24 Hours are pretty low at the moment.

We will therefore see how the situation develops in the next few hours, considering that Chaz Davies could also pull out due to personal commitments. In this emergency situation, in addition to Petrucci, the EWC Ducati team also checked out the possibility of Phillip Oettl, who already raced with the German team last year. For EWC, therefore, maybe the next few hours will help to resolve the situation.
