SBK, Petrucci: “I don’t even know where the first corner is at Mandalika”

SBK: Petrucci: “I don’t even know where the first corner is at Mandalika”

The Superbike faces its second challenge in 2023 over the weekend, and there’s anticipation for Danilo Petrucci, as well as curiosity in view of the Mandalika round. The Barni rider aims to slowly progress in Indonesia, since he knows  this will be an entirely new test for him on a track he’s not familiar with.

It’s my first time here in Mandalika,” he said. “I’ve never been there before, and I don’t even know where the first corner is. It’ll be a tough challenge, and I’m leaving with no expectations, even if I definitely want to do well.

Obviously, the rider from Terni is aware of the difficulties.

On paper, this is one of the most complicated races, both because of the weather and because of the track, given that the asphalt has recently been redone, and there isn’t a lot of grip. I don’t really know what to expect, but we have to be calm and work methodically without losing patience.

We should remember that Petrux will be the only Barni rider on the track to keep the colors of the Bergamo-based team high, given that Yari Montella will be absent in the SSP due to a broken collarbone he sustained on Saturday in Race 1.
