MotoGP: Bagnaia nominated for the Laureus Award in the 'Comeback of the Year' category

Pecco Bagnaia has been nominated for the prestigious Laureus Award in the 'Comeback of the Year' category (even though the original wording has more nuances and can be translated as comeback but also return). Last season, the Ducati rider made a recovery in the standings that had never been seen before in the history of MotoGP, going from a 91-point disadvantage to winning the world championship.

In the history of the award, only two motorcycle racers have managed to win in a category: Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez. The Doctor won the 'Spirit of Sport' in 2006, ‘Comeback of the Year' in 2011 and 'Sports Icon' awards in 2022, while the Spaniard was elected 'Revelation of the Year' in 2014.

To win the prize, Bagnaia will be up against some very tough opponents indeed: cyclist Annemiek Van Vleuten, basketball player Klay Thompson, golf legend Tiger Woods, footballer Christian Eriksen and track runner Jakob Ingebritsen.
