Franco Morbidelli reaches an 11th time, half a second from the top, in his second day of tests in Sepang. A rainy Saturday that slowed everything down, but Yamaha is still confident with what they achieved.

It was a positive Saturday,” Franco said. “We rode when it was dry, and then I managed even in wet conditions, and that was important, since we had to figure out how the engine behaved  when it’s wet. Unfortunately, however, I wasn’t able to test the new aerodynamics, but I’ll do that tomorrow. When it was time for me to use it, it started to rain.

Then Franco talks about the engine.
The new engine is more aggressive, has a more wicked delivery, but it’s difficult to control in some situations, since we have to better handle lower gears. We’ll have to find the right balance. It was still a very useful day, since we reconfirmed yesterday’s things when it was dry, and we managed to do several laps despite the rain.

In all this, Morbidelli is calm and has his feet firmly on the ground. But everyone’s wondering if Ducati is getting closer.
I don’t know yet. I’m waiting for tomorrow’s time attacks. What’s certain is that Ducati will be really fast, that's for sure. We’ll see at what level we’ll be.

In the end, he gives his take on 2023.
I started as aggressive as I should have, and that’s important, after a not so great 2022. It's important to have this rebound effect.
