Auto - News: Rossi finishes 6th in Bathurst 12 Hours, Mercedes wins

It ended with a 6th place in the first 12 Hours of Bathrst for Valentino Rossi. The Doctor put himself to the test on the difficult Mount Panorama track at the wheel of the WRT team's BMW M4, and it is safe to say that he did not disfigure on his debut on such a difficult and peculiar circuit, "a Phillip Island with walls," he called it.

The race was very close for first place, so much so that the Mercedes AMG of Habul, Gounon and Stolz beat the Porsche of Campbell, Jaminet and Preinind by just a second, a nothing in an endurance race. Completing the podium was the other Mercedes of Engel, Grenier and Marciello. The first BMW to the finish was Valentino's twin car, driven by Vanthoor, Weerts and van Gisbergen, who took it up to 4th place.

Rossi, who was crewed by Farfus and Martin, as mentioned finished in 6th position (the same position from which he started after the two-crew penalty) and for a moment of the race even seemed to be aiming for the podium. At the finish line, he lost a lap to the winners.
