Auto - News: A Loris Capirossi-designed Supercar: here is the FV Frangivento GT65

It is called FV Frangivento GT65 and, already from the name, it is a tribute to Capirossi's career. Loris, however, didn't just accept the tribute but actively collaborated in the creation of this handcrafted supercar which will only be produced in three examples (numbered 90, 91 and 98, the years of his world titles).

“It all started three and a half years ago - says Loris - when I met Paolo Mancini and Giorgio Pirolo in Montecarlo”; they are the soul of Frangivento, a small ‘factory’ specialized in unique models.

"They knew my passion for cars, and they asked me to make one together, as a tribute to my career - continues Capirex - In 2020, during the lockdown, I downloaded an app on my iPad and started jotting down some ideas which then Giorgio transformed into the car you see”.

For the presentation, Loris chose 'his' Imola and the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack and the GT65 immediately felt at home. It is not only beautiful, but also extremely fast. The base from which they started (but of which little is left) is Lamborghini and under the bonnet there is a 5,200 cc naturally aspirated V10 credited with 650 hp (also this figure is no coincidence) grounded by the four-wheel drive. Other numbers? The GT65 has a power-to-weight ratio of 1.48 kg/hp, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds, while it reaches 200 km/h in 9.8s from standstill, the top speed is higher than 330 km/h.

While he talks about it, Loris's eyes light up: “it's awesome! You should hear that sound, it's wonderful! The car is made entirely of carbon and has a frightening aerodynamic load: the wing and the spoiler are… important, then there is the perforated bonnet for even more downforce and the carbon wheel covers are fan-shaped, to extract the warm air".

The GT65 refers to the GT3 cars with pronounced aerodynamic appendages in carbon, a central fin that starts from the roof and joins a double rear wing in carbon and is also extensive in details, such as the ignition button with the wording 'Gas Gas' .
