MotoGP: VIDEO - Joan Mir finally wears Honda HRC colors

Joan Mir in 2023 will have a definite challenge to face. Having cashed the farewell of Suzuki, the bike that allowed him to become world champion in 2020, the Spaniard has signed a contract with Honda to become Marc Marquez's new partner in HRC. Mir therefore leaves, despite himself, one of the most competitive and even 'easy' bikes of the lot to go and challenge on equal terms a mastiff like Marquez in his own box.

Among other things, having also to get used to a weapon that at the moment appears rather blunt, such as the RCV 213, a bike that for at least two seasons has not been able to find its way back to the top and compete on equal terms with the best of the lot. Until the end of 2022, Mir could not show off images of him in Honda colors, due to the contract still in place with Suzuki. That embargo having expired, here are the first official images of Joan popping up in the Repsol Honda colors that he will take to the races in 2023.

In this short video made by Honda, the 2020 champion is seen receiving a book with pictures of the great champions who have passed through the Honda box, including Doohan, Crivillè, Stoner, and Marquez. The last page of the book is still blank and Joan takes a picture with a legendary Polaroid and then affixes it right in the blank space. Now it will be a question of whether Mir can match the feats of the champions who came before him, in one of the most difficult times for Honda in MotoGP.
