This is the time of year when, as we unwrap a Panettone and uncork a bottle of Prosecco, we feel the warmth of the Malaysian sun on our skin and start the countdown to the resumption of hostilities. As we said, the first shakedown will take place as always in Sepang, Malaysia, starting February 5 with the test riders and rookies... even if there will only be one in 2023. Fortunately, this is the one goal you can't bet on, because the 2023 World Cup is more open than ever.
Anyway, here are the dates.
2023 pre-season testing for the MotoGP class will take place in Sepang and Portimão, as already confirmed:
Sepang Shakedown test: 5-7 February
Sepang test: 10-12 February
Portimão test: 11-12 March
During the season, after the Spanish Grand Prix and the San Marino Grand Prix, one-day official tests will take place for the MotoGP class:
Jerez test: 1 May
Misano test: 11 September
For Moto2 and Moto3, the season will start with private tests, but with all the teams and riders present, at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto:
Moto3: 9-10 March
Moto2: 14-15 March
The 2023 official pre-season tests will then take place at Portimão:
Moto2 and Moto3 tests: 17-19 March.
After the Spanish Grand Prix and the British Grand Prix, one-day official tests will also take place for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes.
Jerez Moto2 and Moto3 tests: 2 May
Silverstone Moto2 and Moto3 tests: 7 August
