Enea Bastianini was promoted to the official Ducati team for 2023 with his 2022 victories and podiums. A third place in the general classification behind Bagnaia and Quartararo represents the springboard towards a season as an absolute role player, with the prospect of sharing the garage with the reigning champion.
He was also present at the Ducati party in Bologna and willingly accepted to answer our questions: his debut on the factory bike in Valencia, his first appearance with his new teammate, and also with his crew chief, who too Alberto Giribuola’s place and migrated to KTM. As always, Enea appeared calm, aware of the great opportunity he has ahead of him but not at all scared or worried. An apparent calmness since, on the track, Bastianini transformed himself into the Beast when needed, capable of giving anyone a hard time.
We also asked him about how Carlo Pernat was denied access to the Ducati garage. A joke that, in Valencia, the Ducati mechanics had played on Enea’s manager, Carlo, who has always accompanied the rider on his adventure and who certainly played a leading role in the rise of his protégé.
