MotoGP might be on vacation, but Bar Sport Bar is still up and running and our very own Carlo Pernat is once again holding court. The winter weather hasn’t dampened the spirits of the Italian manager who spoke about the present and future of the world championship (you can see the broadcast above).

2023 is approaching and according to Pernat it will be painted exactly the colour that we have all come to know well this year.

"I see Ducati dominating – was his prediction - Honda has to remake the bike and is in trouble, all the good things done by Yamaha in the previous tests seem to have vanished in the Valencia ones, KTM is not yet ready to fight for the World Championship and Aprilia lost the concessions and had a bad end to the season. Ducati has everything to dominate, it has the bike and the riders, I'm not just talking about Bagnaia and Bastianini but also Bezzecchi and Martin. I see another ‘red’ year. Its rivals will always be the same: Quartararo and Marquez. I don't think Aleix Espargarò will be able to repeat a championship like this and Vinales has too many ups and downs."

Honda seems to be the manufacturer most in crisis and Pernat wants to offer some advice.

“If I were the boss of Honda, I would carry out two different developments, even if it's expensive, because nobody rides the bike developed by Marquez. They will have to work twice as hard: rely on Marc to make a bike the way he likes it and make another one for the other riders” was his opinion. Also because: "Marquez must be applauded for his return and for his strength, but he's still a question mark when it comes to the title".

There was not only talk of sport, but also of politics and the manager revealed a bit of background information from this winter.

“There is a big problem being created, we are talking about it between managers, because the manufacturers are resisting the mini-bonuses for the Sprint Race - he explained - The riders are angry, but the manufacturers are not listening to us. I think it is correct that if there is a race on Saturday with half the points, then the riders must have half the bonus."

This problem is the result of a change of format, with the introduction of the Sprint Race, which seems to have been decided without having carefully evaluated all its repercussions.

“Not all the problems have been analysed, the FIM was absent. There was pressure on Dorna and they made gut decisions, instead of relying on outside managers, such as Brivio or Suppo for example" commented Pernat.
