Enea Bastianini’s glass at Phillip Island is definitely half full. His was a comeback race, where he went from 17th to 5th, half a second from the victory, even if he still has some regrets, because he could have certainly obtained more.

I’m really happy but, at the same time, I say it’s also a pity,” he commented. “I thought the two positions on the grid would make a difference. On the second lap, I then started vibrating, and my airbag exploded (ed. this also happened to Mir in Assen).  Consequently, I had do  a lap and a half with an open airbag, losing several positions. Nevertheless, I managed to get back up, and I was competitive on empty track.

Enea’s mood is a mix of joy and regret.
A fifth place is a result I expected, since I was in seventeenth, but there’s  also some  regret. It would have been perfect if I had started ahead, but it’s useless to think about that. I’m leaving here with a smile, because  I overtook so many times, and the Ducati worked well. Obviously, I feel bad about yesterday, since it was a complicated Saturday.

Thanks to this result, Aleix Espargarò is now only 16 points away from 3rd place.
We’re getting closer and closer to the top riders, and it feels good. We have to, therefore, remain focused in Malaysia and continue to do our best. I went for it in the end today but, unfortunately, I’m pretty upset that I failed. I could’ve been on the podium, but overtaking is never easy here. In the finale, I passed Marini, Martin, and Aleix, so that’s fine. The World Championship? My chances are few, but I’ll continue to give as much as I can.
