Moto3, Migno: "The minor categories are sick, we need to change"

Andrea's reflection: "Now every weekend the riders are constantly risking their lives, we must give young guys the opportunity to make a difference. We need a refoundation"

Moto3: Migno:

Andrea Migno is a Moto3 veteran, he did his first races in the World Championship in 2013 and in these 10 years he has seen “his” class change. And for the worse. The recent tragedy of Victor Steeman did not leave him indifferent, indeed it touched him deeply. Enough to write a long and heartfelt vent on his Instagram profile.

Andrea was not afraid to put his thoughts and concerns on paper, aware that a profound change is needed in what are the entry classes in the World Championship, whether it’s MotoGP or SBK.

We leave you to his words.

“It seems clear to me that there is something wrong, I am referring to the MINOR CATEGORIES, those of YOUNG guys, ADOLESCENTS. And I underline that I am referring to what can be Moto3, PreMoto3 or SuperSport300, those categories that have been SICK in the last few years. Even the dead are no longer enough to change things, what should we do? Who should we speak to? What needs to happen to make things change?

We've been talking about it for years and realizing it but things don't change and they always get WORSE! Very wrong, fatal!

The races and the course of the minor categories must change. As soon as possible.

Until a few years ago, when things were better, there were DUELS, the last laps to compete for the top positions between 2-3 close riders, maximum 5-6 when it was a 'group race'.

There was trying to set the best time in qualifying ALONE WITHOUT A TOW, it was normal. Today a utopia for many, virtually for everyone.

All this happened in the overwhelming majority of GPs on the championship calendar.

No, this is no longer the case today.

The situation has been overturned.

Today in the overwhelming majority of the GPs of a championship, every weekend a group of 20 or more riders risk (and unfortunately even worse) their lives CONSTANTLY because they find themselves forced to chase and ram each other to get to the final result. "The Moto3 races are the best to watch, everything happens right until the end, whole race total panic!": When I hear this kind of thing, I always feel mostly surprised and scarred, because it is not really like that and on TV you only perceive a small part of what really happens on the track. It is an escalation of risks taken by all the riders at every corner, a war between boys.

Motorsport is dangerous, if you add this extra dose of risk, the episodes can only get worse.

I believe that finding THE REASON WHY is not obvious, but I certainly believe that something has to change.

Probably in addition to the economic issues, which we are not here to talk about but which exist, it would be time to give young riders the opportunity to MAKE A DIFFERENCE on their bikes, as in the higher categories, see Moto2 or MotoGP, Supersport 600 or Superbike. Where those who can go faster and be more effective over one and more laps can make a difference on the track! In the minor categories it does not happen anymore, TOO RARE to see a difference on the track although the TALENT and the ATTRIBUTES between the riders can be well distinguished as opposed to BIKES THAT ARE TECHNICALLY TOO EASY TO TAKE TO THE LIMIT FOR EVERYONE.

THE MINOR CATEGORIES MUST BE REFOUNDED !!!

This is my thought after another life lost on the track, carried away by this wonderful world of passion and EXTRAORDINARY people.

I hope to be able to witness a better MOTORCYCLE RACING, one which has made many steps forward over time and especially in recent years, but which now needs it once again and in a significant way ".

YOU CAN NOT PRETEND NOTHING HAPPENED YET AGAIN ".
