SBK: Tragic accident in IDM: Langstädtler loses his life

A tragic accident occurred today at the Hockenheimring racetrack, site of the final round of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM), Germany's top national motorcycle championship. In the second free practice session of the premier Superbike class, rider Leon Langstädtler (F73 Academy/Werk2 Racing Team BMW) stumbled into a slide at the entrance to the Motodrom and was then hit by an oncoming rider.

The situation immediately appeared serious, so much so that the session was interrupted when the red flag was shown and Langstädtler received immediate medical attention. Despite the intensive efforts of medical personnel, the 24-year-old young man from Idstein died instantly from his severe injuries.

The entire editorial staff of GPOne extends its sympathy to the family, relatives, friends and team during these difficult hours.
