Diego Gubellini is Fabio Quartararo’s crew chief and a man of great experience, even on a human level, but there was no need to tread on egg shells around the current world champion after the accident with Marquez.

It’s obvious that we aren’t happy,” Gubellini admitted right after the race. “But we tried to play it down by joking about it. We know that races sometimes go awry. We have to react and act accordingly. How was Fabio when he got back? There was no need to console him, although we did talk to him. He’s no longer 18 years old. He’s slowly becoming a man.

But losing 20 points in one fell swoop must have been tough.
Well, of course. This year is more difficult than previous years. There are seven Ducatis among the first ten bikes. The technical aspect is very important, but we’ve known this since the beginning of the year. We have to just keep working, and then we’ll come to terms with it at the end of the year.”

You’re back next week. Could Motegi be a favorable track for Yamaha?
There are no favorable or unfavorable tracks this year. It’s a bit strange, it depends on where you can overtake and then on the history of the GP itself. Motegi is a track where Fabio has always been fast. We’ll see when we get there.”

Doubts and curiosity remain to know where Quartararo could have arrived in the Aragon GP.
I looked at the times. Realistically speaking, starting sixth, we would have wasted time at the beginning. I don’t know if we would’ve been ahead with Enea and Pecco, but we could have had some peace of mind fighting for third place.
