MotoAmerica, Ducati Warhorse to field Josh Herrin in support of Petrucci at New Jersey

Josh Herrin leads the MotoAmerica Supersport championship with 76 points and he could be a help for Danilo Petrucci to have an ally on the track against Jake Gagne, leading by only one point

MotoAmerica: Ducati Warhorse to field Josh Herrin in support of Petrucci at New Jersey

Josh Herrin, Danilo Petrucci's teammate in the Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC team, but in the Supersport category, might join the Italian rider in Superbike this weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

As is well known, Petrux is just one point behind at the top of the standings headed by Jake Gagne (Yamaha) and the official MotoAmerica website reports this indiscretion. The NJMP entry list shows that number 2 Josh Herrin is present both in Supersport aboard a Ducati Panigale V2 and in the Medallia Superbike category aboard a Ducati Panigale V4 R, with both entries under the team name "Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC ".

Bobby Shek, owner of HSBK Racing and team principal of Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC, was asked to talk about Herrin's participation in Medallia Superbike, but like Herrin he smiled wryly, saying: "I cannot confirm or deny. We’ll have to wait and see about qualifying".

It is very likely that Herrin will wrap up the Supersport championship this weekend at NJMP, as he is currently leading with 76 points. It was rumoured and expected that Herrin would race in Medallia Superbike at Barber Motorsports Park, in the last round of the 2022 MotoAmerica Championship in two weeks, after taking the 'middleweight' crown. However, Ducati does not want to miss out on the top category title and could therefore field Herrin alongside Petrucci to have more data and, perhaps, even support on the track.
