MotoGP, Fast By Prosecco - Pernat: “The Ducatis rob Quartararo of his confidence”

VIDEO – Carlo comments Misano Grand Prix: “Fabio isn’t alone against everyone, he’s alone against Ducati. Bagnaia and Bastianini aren’t only a great future but also a great present.”

Carlo Pernat enjoyed the Misano Sunday, maybe even more than many others because, on the second step of the podium, behind a magnificent Bagnaia, stood his pupil, Enea Bastianini, who once again demonstrated how Ducati’s choice for 2023 is spot on. The B&B couple represents a great certainty both for the present and  future of the Borgo Panigale constructor, while Quartararo can look with growing concern at the rankings, with an advantage that is very quickly eroding, especially against a Pecco who is racing like a prodigy.

As always, Carletto commented the race for us, sipping a bottle of Prosecco Doc, talking about the race, about KTM’s future choices, and applauding Aprilia’s splendid work with Maverick Viñales.

We can call Misano 2022, Ducati 2022. It was a Ducati festival, which reopened the world championship. We can say that now. It was a good fight between Bagnaia and Bastianini. We saw that there were no team obligations. Enea attempted to win until the very end, just 0.034 seconds from Bagnaia. Let’s not forget that Ducati gave him a 2021 bike, so there’s also a small difference compared to Pecco. But Bagnaia was better, won, and regained that confidence he had lost at some point.

A confidence that Quartararo had lost for two reasons. The first is clearly that the Yamaha is inferior to the Ducati, and we can see that. The second is that the Ducati is an army. They have four or five riders who can stay ahead of Fabio. Today, even Marini was ahead of him after a wonderful race. Three Ducati ahead of Quartararo means fifteen points less, and that’s important, because you can create great teamwork. When you have six bikes ahead, it becomes very difficult for him. A true Quartararo against everyone or, rather, against Ducati.

I must say that I have to give Aprilia a good vote because of Viñales, who is adapting well to this bike, but I also think that Aleix Epsargarò was affected by the highside at Silverstone, which was a terrible blow. Those are two races where he seems to have lost some of that competitive malice he had before. But he’s still fighting in the standings. Aprilia is a reality.

I want to give a point in favor of KTM’s future, since they’ve started to look at Ducati people, stealing away important engineers. Next year, they want to start fighting with the others for victories. They took Miller who, despite today’s fall, is an important rider. Let’s just say that they’re progressing. A farewell to a great Andrea Dovizioso and the duels we enjoyed with him and Marquez, with Ducati. For the rest, we can say goodbye to rookies that were brought too early to the MotoGP, like Darryn Binder and Remy Gardner.

Next year will be great but, in the meantime, let’s enjoy all this ... that’s all already great.”
