MotoGP: Quartararo: “Bagnaia's penalty is an advantage to be exploited”

The Ducatis dictated law on Friday at Misano, and Fabio Quartararo has to console himself with a 5th time of the day, three tenths from Enea Bastianini. The French rider tried to see the glass half full, aware that the test will be one with a high-difficulty coefficient.

“The result of this first day was positive,”  he said. “I started out well this morning, managing to be fast on the Yamaha. Unfortunately, I didn’t find the confidence I wanted with the soft tire. In fact, it took me two laps to understand that it wasn’t the right choice, since it’s too soft. It did much better with the medium. It’s too bad we didn’t get the time on the flying lap, since the tire wasn’t ready. The results were very positive on the pace.”

In all this, Bagnaia will be behind three positions on the grid Sunday for having slowed down Marquez and Bastianini in the FP1.
We have try to make the most of every advantage to do our best. It’s definitely too bad for him, while it’s a good thing for us.

Among the news of the day is Marquez’s return for the tests.
“Seeing him ride the Honda again I think is a great thing, and I hope his path to recovery works out. I’m of the opinion that Marc’s return is great news for the racing world, and this test will probably help him to better understand what his conditions are after surgery. It could also destroy Ducati’s plan."

Yamaha is certainly expecting a lot from Quartararo.
“I know I can be competitive here in Misano, like I can be more competitive in Aragon than last year, where I did quite well in practice but badly in the race. I’m ready to fight. Unfortunately, I’m still having problems with the front tire too often. We have to work to progress.”
