In the last two GPs, Pecco Bagnaia did his best work, winning both and shortening the distance in the standings from Fabio Quartararo. The 49 points that still separate them are still a lot, but there’s another race for Ducati’s rider from Piedmont that should favor him on paper.
The Red Bull Ring is friendly track for Ducati, but we can't say the same for Yamaha, so the Austrian weekend could become crucial in the race for the title. Pecco is psyched to the right point and will have to be able to turn this possibility into something real.
“At Silverstone, we managed to recuperate several points in the general standings but, right now, I don't want to think about the championship. I have to stay focused, race by race, always trying to get the best possible result. In the last GP, I managed to achieve an unexpected victory, and I think it was one of the greatest of my career,” he stated.
Then he spoke about the Red Bull Ring.
“We’re going to Austria, on a track that has historically always been favorable for Ducati. We’ll have to see what it’ll be like now with the new chicane, but I’m convinced that the prerequisites to be able to do well still exist. I'm ready and excited to race again at the Red Bull Ring,” he said.
Even his partner, Jack Miller, is coming from a good result. He took the podium at Silverstone and could prove to be a key ally in the fight for the title.
“I'm happy to be racing in Austria again this weekend. The Red Bull Ring is a track that I like and where I’ve already gotten on the podium in the past,” the Australian rider recalled. “Last year, we were unlucky with a fall in the first race and the rain that surprised us in the second. My goal is to be able to redeem myself this year. We’re going through a positive moment, and my feelings on the Desmosedici GP are really good. I’m confident and determined to do well in this race too.”
