SBK, Bautista: "If it rains tomorrow, we shouldn’t race"

"The situation is like Imola in 2019. The walls are close, and  it becomes dangerous with rain. My hand? I haven't  resolved the problem yet. It’ll take time."

SBK: Bautista:

Alvaro Bautista was forced to chase on Friday in Most. If Toprak and the Yamaha dictated the pace, Alvaro had to console himself with a fourth place, just over three tenths from the top. Despite his time, the Aruba rider prefers to focus on the sensations he got from the bike, aware of the fact that he’s still competitive.

"This is my first time with Ducati in Most, and we focused on the set-up today, trying various solutions,"  he said. "There are some aspects that need to be carefully assessed, so that we can be ready for Saturday."

One of the novelties was Pirelli’s SC0.

"Obviously, we also worked on the new SC0. Compared to the SCX, this tire doesn’t give me the same confidence, especially in the first laps. It's definitely better than the classic SC0. I don't consider it the ideal tire, but it’s what we have available."

Alvaro is thinking about Saturday. The weather forecast calls for rain the whole day. A real problem for the riders.

"The situation is like Imola in 2019. If it rains, I think it’s best we don’t race, because it could become very dangerous. There are several points where the walls are close to the track and, if you fall in wet conditions, it becomes really risky."

Then he talked abaout his hand injury from Donington.

"At the moment, the problem hasn’t been resolved yet, because I feel fatigued. I don't have any fractures, but there are ligaments and tendons involved. I need more time to fully recover."

Better talk about the expectations for the weekend.

"I came here with no expectations. I'm definitely having a lot more fun than last year. I'm more confident than last year, where I was near the limit at every turn. I did a simulation in the morning, and my impressions were positive, although I have to progress. The most important thing is to have confidence. If you have that, you can be competitive."
