As always Carlo Pernat has been commenting on the Grand Prix for us in his own inimitable style… front of a bottle of Prosecco DOC, which among other things was much appreciated given the scorching heat that enveloped the Sachsenring. This weekend’s action was dominated by Fabio Quartararo, who is now pulling away more and more in the world championship. From a comment on Bagnaia's crash, to Ducati's double podium with Zarco and Miller, up to Alex Espargarò's solid 4th place keeping his hopes of staying in the fight with the Yamaha rider in the world championship alive. A terrible period for Honda, orphan of Marquez and without a defined future from a technical and sporting point of view.

"If we were to crown a king, maybe it was the case to crown him before. Today Fabio Quartararo put on a three-meter high king's crown, he did the race he wanted. He decided to start and immediately go on the run, managing his advantage, he did a Grand Prix as a consummate champion and it will be very difficult to beat him this year. The points advantage is a big one, he manages the races as he wants, he rides the Yamaha in a fantastic way and only he knows how to do it. Hats off to Fabio, nothing to add.

Bad day for the championship for Ducati, but good for the Grand Prix itself. Bad because Bagnaia made the umpteenth fall when he was condemned to win. This zero will weigh a lot, because he is almost 100 points behind Quartararo and I think the championship is virtually over. It was a bad crash, a crash that shouldn’t have happened. Of course it was Pecco's mistake.

Miller put a patch on things, with a great race today despite the fact that he was penalized by a long lap penalty. He made a fantastic podium, he looked like the Miller of 2021, maybe having signed with KTM has done him good. Good race for Zarco, the Pramac Team always puts its riders on the podium. He lacks the spark to win, but he did an intelligent race. Perhaps he was waiting for Quartararo's mistake, but with him he always waits and hopes ...

Bastianini started very badly, he was 23rd and managed to finish 10th. A good result, good points for the world championship, even if now he has lost the third place in the standings to Zarco. Aleix also didn't have a great weekend, he felt a vibration on the bike from the first laps. In the end he was satisfied with 4th place, which are good points for the classification. He still has some hope.

For the rest I would say that it was a total disaster for Honda, which every time a GP goes by, really proves that it has no idea of how to put the bike in shape from a technical point of view and is also in difficulty over the choice of riders. At this moment there is a silence for the future, it is not clear whether Mir will go to Honda, but Honda for sure needs riders. Marquez will be back at the end of the year, for the start of next season and the bike is just not working. Perhaps the worst period in Honda's history in MotoGP.

Suzuki has riders who are now unmotivated, with Rins who tried to race but the fracture didn't allow him to. Mir gets a sufficient in the marks, but nothing more. Bad situation for these riders, who don’t know anything about their future and race in a particular way. Then there is KTM which has Binder who is very strong, it is a pity that he always starts badly. If he were to start off well, I am convinced that he would always be in the top five. Oliveira just does his homework, nothing more nothing less, he has already been booted out for next season. Only Fabio is able to ride the Yamaha, just look at what Morbidelli, Dovizioso and Binder are doing with it, they are totally at a loss.

The championship is almost decided, frankly today Quartararo is the strongest of all".
