MotoGP: Aleix Espargarò says the title is a dream that is becoming reality

There is no need to remind Aleix Espargarò of what happened to him in the Barcelona GP, his early celebration by one lap (which cost him the podium) will remain forever etched in his mind. The Aprilia rider talked about it on the TV program 'El Hormiguero' on Antena3.

“I am 32 years old and have been in the World Championship for 16 years. I have had accidents, I was injured, my engine broke, but something like that had never happened to me. I had a bad time because I was second in front of my fans and I waved like crazy with one lap to go .... I started crying and I felt really bad, I was very embarrassed" he admitted, before concluding "you have to laugh about these things ".

The past cannot be changed and the Aprilia rider still has many reasons to smile as he takes a good look at his start to the season. Until a few months ago he had never won a race in the World Championship, now the title is being fought out against Quartararo.

"It is a dream that is starting to become real - he explained - All my life I have dreamed of winning a World Championship and this year I am living a dream that is more and more becoming a reality".

The memory of his first victory in Argentina is also indelible.

"I was concentrated throughout the race and didn't think much, but during the last half a lap my whole body was shaking - he said about that moment - I won and I remember the feeling of great happiness and having lifted a weight from my shoulders because my sporting career has been very strange, all riders win the first race when they are younger ”.

Aleix also wanted to send a message to Marc Marquez.

“What he is going through is very difficult: injuries, operations. I just hope he is fine on a human level, because motorcycle racing is very nice, but we have a life outside of racing and I hope he is fine and can come back soon," he said.
