MotoGP: Michelin: test compounds, but special casings for the Mandalika GP

The Mandalika circuit will be an important testing ground for Michelin, due to the high temperatures and a layout that includes very fast corners. The winter tests were of particular importance for the French tyre manufacturer which, based on that experience, decided to make some changes to the tyres chosen for the Grand Prix.

"The test days were very positive from a tyre point of view, but we quickly realized that due to the combination of the track's new asphalt, fast layout and high temperatures, the tyres were stressed too much and overheated - explained Piero Taramasso, manager of Michelin - As a result, we have changed the allocation for the race weekend: we will keep the same compounds that during the test gave excellent levels of grip and consistency, but we have put them on special casings that are designed to control the temperatures more effectively. With these solutions I feel more confident for the race and the fact that the track has been resurfaced should help. "
