MotoGP: Dovizioso complains of lack of grip and that the Yamaha must be ridden in a special way

Losail Saturday was one with a bitter aftertaste for Andrea Dovizioso. A qualifying session full of difficulties and struggles for the WithU rider, who remained out of Q2 and will start tomorrow from 20th place on the grid.

On his part, the disappointment was evident, but at the same time there was no lack of clarity in analysing the current situation.

“Today's conditions were different than yesterday - he said - I'm disappointed about this Saturday, as I was unable to improve and I was struggling, in fact the starting position confirms this. As I said yesterday, I don't have the situation under control and this is not good”.

Andrea then explained what the limits are.

“Right now, regardless of the conditions, there is a lack of rear grip. This is the most difficult thing to manage. Unfortunately, I don't have much experience riding the Yamaha, so I can't give too many judgments. In FP4 I saw that Quartararo was good with the medium, but you still have to ride on a tightrope, because you have no other ways given the lack of grip. In my opinion this is the most important aspect ".

The man from Forlì was clear about what the situation was.

“At the moment I'm not even close to riding the M1 well. The Yamaha has to be ridden in a certain way and you can’t use what your method is that you may have brought with you over the years. From what we have seen until now, the Yamaha has a certain DNA, but in my opinion there are some aspects where the bike has fallen behind and you can feel this. Our speed is not bad, but I’m struggling to put everything else together ”.
