This will be the tenth season for Marquez in MotoGP. A decade in which Marc has written the history of the world championship, winning 6 world titles, 59 races, in addition to obtaining 99 podiums and 62 pole positions. It’s been a period full of good moments but also bad ones, as in the last two years.

In the video above, Marquez recalled his past and imagined the future.

"The time passes too quick - he smiled - 10 seasons of MotoGP and with the Repsol Honda team is something I couldn’t imagine in my best dreams".

Marc then analysed all of his seasons one by one.

2013: “The best memory was the way I enjoyed that championship. Every year I try to enjoy it, but it was my rookie season and there was no pressure, everything was OK, if you crash it was OK because it was your first season. If you win or got on the podium it was amazing. There was a period when Pedrosa and Lorenzo I don’t remember who got injured first and I won two races in a row, after Laguna Seca I say OK we can win the title ".

2014: "10 victories in a row, that was incredible"

2015: “The good moment is the experience I got. I crashed many times; I tried to win every race and I understand that it wasn’t necessary ”.

2016: “I won the title because of 2015, I was calm even though in the beginning with the bike it was so difficult to understand the limit. The best memory was the way we worked with the team ”.

2017: "I have less memories of that year. I won, but 2017 was a great fight against Dovizioso and I learnt that everyone in MotoGP is fast, Dovizioso was not on my list but he was the most difficult guy to beat ”.

2018: "A season that I managed the situation in a good way, everything was working well"

2019: “My best season in MotoGP. In 2014 I won many races, but on the grid, there was 4 bikes able to win the title, in ‘19 there were many bikes and riders but I always finished 1st or 2nd ".

2020: “If I need to choose a good memory, it’s the feeling in the Jerez race. I finished in the gravel, but it was one of my best races and my best career performances. After I went on the gravel fighting for second, but this can happen ".

2021: "I will choose Portimao, riding again a MotoGP bike and finish the race was my target, big pain but it was a very good memory".

Marquez is also very clear which are the best bikes he has ridden and which ones he would like to try.

"I would choose 2013 and 2014, those were amazing bikes - he has no doubts - It was easy to find the limit, the electronics package was from Honda and it was different, the performance of the bike was very high. All the current riders would like to try a 2-stroke bike, riding the 500s of Doohan, Valentino, Criville would be nice ”.

Pedrosa has a special place in his memories.

“I learned many things from Dani, the way to ride a MotoGP, it was like a master class”.

The 2020 injury was a terrible but important chapter in his career.

"I learned that you only have one body and you have to take care of it - he explained - I used that experience last winter, when I had the double vision, I know that 4 years ago I’d say I need the operation because I want to be in the Malaysia test. This winter I just followed the doctors' advice, they say you must wait and I said OK. I know that if I followed that advice I will start my season in the summer, but I had to take care of my body. This doesn't mean that I won't take risks on the track, that's my style, but if I get injured, I want to be patient. My biggest regret is 2020, racing again 4 days after the injury in Jerez. It cost me all 2020 and 2021 ".

Marquez also underlined the importance of the people around him.

"The best thing is the time I spend with my people after the championship - he said - You can win a lot, but if you don't have people around you to celebrate, it has no meaning".

How does Marc see the next 10 years?

“I want to be part of Honda history, we have already achieved many things together, but I signed up for this four year contract. In the next 10 years I will try to continue racing and enjoy it, I don't know if in 10 years I will still be riding in the MotoGP class, I always say if I don’t have the level or performance to fight for the top 3 it’s no meaning to race for me” he concluded.
