MotoGP, Viñales: "To find Aprilia’s limit, I'll have to do like Marquez does"

What’s important is not falling during the race. I still don't know the limits of the bike and how far I can push, but the feelings are positive, and the engine is high performing. "

Maverick Viñales  concluded the Sepang tests with a smile on his face. Now his mind is already focused on the next date in Mandalika. During this first time on the track this year, the Spanish rider demonstrated he was  aware and confident in the work carried out.

It’s always difficult to take stock after Sepang, but the feelings of this test were positive,” he began. “We improved a lot compared to last year. The goal is to proceed, step by step, looking for the right confidence.”

Maverick was then asked how different the working method is compared to Yamaha?

It’s really difficult to make comparisons, since each team has its own work plan. We tested a lot of things, including the new engine, and some changes related to the set-up. Both the bike and I have improved, and the feelings are positive. The important thing is that, every day, I found something that allowed me to be increasingly competitive and effective."

Regarding his performance, Viñales  is sincere.

I still don't know what the bike’s limit is and how far I can push.”

Maybe he could follow Marquez’s style: to customize his bike, he fell countless times.

That's right. I'll have to fall toohe said smiling. “The important thing is not to fall during the race. We arrived here in Sepang, and we did a great job with the team. We must certainly not stop, but continue on this path, because there’s more room for improvement. In fact, a tough 2022 awaits us, with more than twenty races."

But Maverick's morale is high.

I definitely feel that I’m in a group that believes in me. It's like a boost. And when you’re in front, the confidence and enthusiasm of each individual component further increases. Maybe I was expecting something more on the fastest lap during these tests, but the RS-GP is high performing.”
