The organisers of the Campionato Italiano Velocità (CIV) have selected Dunlop as the exclusive tyre supplier for the championship’s flagship Superbike category, in a deal spanning the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Announced during a pre-season presentation at the MotorBikeExpo in Verona, it means that Dunlop will be the sole tyre supplier for three of CIV’s five categories, as the brand is already the tyre partner to the Italian platform’s Moto3 and Pre-Moto3 classes. In recent seasons, CIV Superbike races have been a spectacular show, attracting a growing audience and even more teams and riders to prove themselves on an increasingly competitive grid of 1000cc superbikes.

Dunlop will provide riders with slick racing tyres in two front and three rear specifications. Coming from Dunlop’s renowned KR range, the KR109 front and KR108 rear tyres are closely related to those raced by leading teams in arenas such as the FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC). In CIV Superbike, the tyres will be in sizes 125/80R17 front and 200/70R17 rear.

Simone Folgori, responsible for the Federazione Motociclistica Italiana (FMI)’s Velocità competitions, said: “Among the most important innovations for the new season is the presence of Dunlop as the sole supplier for the Superbike category. The class is of an increasingly high standard, with major manufacturers and talented and experienced international riders. We are happy to see Dunlop strengthening its commitment to CIV, as the company will now supply tyres to Pre-Moto3, Moto3 and Superbike. Together, this partnership will only help the championship to grow.”

Aldo Ciccone, Racing Manager, Dunlop Italy, added: “Dunlop and CIV represent a winning combination of competitiveness and extreme performance. We are proud to expand our partnership with the FMI as the sole supplier for the Superbike category, the flagship of CIV. For us, this partnership represents a stamp of approval for our products and a further incentive to provide better and better tyres to riders.”

This partnership further strengthens Dunlop’s presence in top-level racing, with the brand competing on the Grand Prix stage in the FIM Moto2™ and Moto3™ World Championships as well as being the choice of winners in the FIM Endurance World Championship, FIM Motocross World Championship and road races like the Isle of Man TT.

The CIV Superbike season begins at Misano on 2-3 April, before further rounds at Vallelunga, Mugello and Imola.
