MotoGP: Honda to present 2022 bike on Friday, but without Marc Marquez

Honda has decided to officially start its 2022 season next Friday, January 14th. To do this, it has organized a strictly online press conference, as is the custom these days. It will be an opportunity to see the riders again after the winter break, but not all of them.

Marc Marquez will not be there: "He will continue to focus on his recovery and pre-season preparation" it was announced. Pol Espargarò, Alex Marquez and Takaaki Nakagami will all be present, but not HRC’s spearhead rider.

As mentioned several times, the latest official statement on Marc's condition dates back to before Christmas, followed by a photo on the social media profiles of the Spanish rider busy training. It’s certainly not a lot to go on and at this moment not only is it not known whether Marquez will be able to take part in the winter tests in Malaysia and Indonesia (scheduled for February), but also what the conditions of his eye with diplopia are.

If Honda has decided that Marquez will not be there on Friday, it seems pointless to think that his brand mates can reveal anything more about his condition, unless some official communication comes in the next few days.

We are always in the realm of maybe however, because Honda has decided to manage its company communication as it had already done with the arm injury: simply by not doing any. A questionable decision, because silence only increases rumours and speculation.

With about three weeks to go before the winter tests, the fans would like to know more, in the hope that Marquez will be in Malaysia.
