MotoGP: THE BOOK: Valentino Rossi, 'Che Spettacolo!'

Italian rider Valentino Rossi announced his farewell months ago and so ends his sports career on two wheels at the age of 42, after 22 consecutive seasons at the top of MotoGP, a milestone never achieved before.

During the latest season of MotoGP, which has also been the farewell to the Italian icon, the book “Valentino Rossi. Che Spettacolo!” has been presented today in Cheste, a work that merges his human and sporting career and analyses his well-known history.

Born in Urbino (Italy), on February 16th of 1979, Rossi decided to enroll in motorbike competition when only 14 years old. From there he went on to become the most popular rider ever. Besides being a unique rider and a great champion, Rossi became a living legend of motorbiking.

During his 26-year Grand Prix, Rossi racked up nine world championships, 115 victories, hundreds of podiums and countless moments full of excitement and passion.

Valentino Rossi’s history has been a pure show, an incredible journey with all the ingredients: emotion and tension, drama and comedy; joy and disappointment.

Readers will find this and much more in the 260 pages and over 400 pictures of the book “Valentino Rossi. Che Spettacolo!”, written by journalists Pepe Burgaleta, Juan Pedro de la Torre and Chechu Lázaro and published by Motorpress Ibérica. María Wandosell, CEO at Motorpress Ibérica, states “Having the opportunity to publish a book like this one is a real privilege. With this work we summon testimonies of great people, no matter they were circuit rivals or tight partners, involved in the career of one of the most relevant and charismatic figures in the world of sport: Valentino Rossi. As we did with the books devoted to Ayrton Senna, Ángel Nieto or Emilio de Villota, we carry on contributing to the major stories in motorsport and focus on the unique characters that leave no one indifferent and act as an inspiration beyond their sporting careers”.

In the preface, Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sport, MotoGP World Championship promoter since 1992, points that “the most important thing, Valentino has been an exceptional rider. Beyond the media aura that surrounds him, he has always been a rider from another world, a personality that crossed borders at every circuit we visited. For sure his farewell will be a turning point, but we still have his legacy which only the best sportsmen in history have achieved.”

The work also includes all the statistics of the charismatic rider’s career: honours, victories, pole positions, and also pictures of all his helmets and bikes with the number 46 on front.

The book “Valentino Rossi. Che Spettacolo!”, presented today at Cheste, is available (€14,95) in stores and newsstands, Amazon and in Motorpress Ibérica e-commerce.
