Miller: “Petrucci wasn’t commended enough, he gave everything to the MotoGP”

“With Danilo in the Pramac garage, we have a great understanding. We have similar characters. He’s given everything to this sport. Rossi’s farewell? A final lap with the other riders could be the right way to say goodbye.”

MotoGP: Miller: “Petrucci wasn’t commended enough, he gave everything to the MotoGP”

Valencia, last stage of the very long 2021 Championship: Jack Miller can, with good reason, be satisfied with his results in this season, fourth in the standings behind defending champion, Joan Mir, and second Ducati overall after Bagnaia’s.

After the podium in Portimao, Jack is certainly looking forward to Valencia, a circuit where he’s always achieved excellent results in the past.

“I love racing here in Valencia,” the Australian rider said. “There is no better way than to end the championship with a good result last week and finish in a circuit that I’ve always liked. I don’t know what exactly is so special here in Valencia. I like it even with the slippery asphalt. Here, in 2019, I finished third, and second in 2020, so I have good expectations for Sunday’s race. I wouldn’t mind doing even better this year.”

This race in Valencia is also a farewell race. Valentino’s farewell to the MotoGP, the farewell of Danilo Petrucci, who ends his career in the premier class to open another, always with KTM, venturing into a whole new world, that of the Dakar rally. Have you ever thought about your future once you’re no longer in the MotoGP?
Well, they haven’t renewed my contract for next year yet,” Jack Miller replied jokingly. “So, who knows. I might end up with Danilo. But, more seriously, I’ve always had a lot of ideas, but all quite confused, so I still can’t say exactly.

Now that Danilo is about to leave the MotoGP, having also shared the Ducati garage with him, what was the best moment you remember?
Sharing the garage with Danilo was a fantastic experience. He was a fantastic colleague, without taking anything away from Pecco. There has always been a good atmosphere with him in the pits. We’re both very easygoing riders and have similar characters, so we’ve always gotten along very well. I think that Danilo’s work and contribution to this sport hasn’t been commended enough. Since he arrived in the MotoGP, he has really given his all, especially considering that he didn’t have the typical physique of a rider, but he managed to obtain excellent results by really sacrificing everything for this sport. This demonstrates his character as a rider. That's why I think we should all thank him and congratulate him.

Valencia will be the last circuit on which Valentino Rossi’s incredible career will end. There was also talk on social media about the possibility of biding him farewell in an exemplary manner. Once the championship is substantially concluded, perhaps presenting him with the coveted 200th podium or, alternatively, a lap of honor with all the riders. What do you think?
“I don’t think Valentino would appreciate a win as a gift, but a lap with all the riders seems like a good idea to me.”
