MotoGP, Morbidelli: “Rossi won’t have an heir, just like Jordan, Tyson, and Woods”

“It’s impossible to find heirs when we’re talking about these champions. I would’ve liked to try the Yamaha with which Vale won at Welkom.”

MotoGP: Morbidelli: “Rossi won’t have an heir, just like Jordan, Tyson, and Woods”

Valencia bids farewell toValentino Rossi and the 2021 season of the World Championship. For the stars of the Circus, it’s like the last day of school, the time to take stock and look towards 2022. And there’s also Franco Morbidelli among them, who’s returning from a year that was not exactly simple, far from what his initial expectations were.

The fact is that, before the holidays, there’s one last test he has to face.

As you well know, I’m still struggling with this knee injury,” he recalled. “Many of my colleagues took a year to get back in shape, while I was already on the bike racing after a few months, so I have to be happy. I’ll face this last weekend as I did the previous ones, trying to take one step at a time, and working on my sensations.”

The season ends in Valencia, and it’s already time to look forward to the next one.

It hasn’t been an easy year but, next time, I want to start again from how I ended in 2020, relying on an excellent working group and the official Yamaha world champion. These aspects give me great security.”

Valentino Rossi will be missing from the roll call.

It’ll be strange not to have Vale on the track even if, when you race, you don’t think too much about emotions that the relationship with a person gives you. Certainly, his story was an incredible one, and it’ll be nostalgic not to talk to him anymore or to compare myself during the race weekend.

While Franco was busy talking to reporters, in the Valencia paddock, the Doctor removed the veil from the bikes with which he won his nine World Championships. There was the 125, as well as the 250, without forgetting the Honda 500 and the Yamaha.

A while ago, I reviewed the Welkom race, and I’d like to try that 2004 Yamaha with which Vale won on his debut. It was a really beautiful and fascinating bike.”

Franco is then asked who’ll be #46’s heir.

No one. Vale was too great for this sport, and it’s hard to find one. It’s difficult to find the heir of greats like Tyson, Woods, and Jordan. It’s impossible. There will be great riders, but Valentino is Valentino.”
