MotoGP, Marquez: "I have had a lot of success at Austin, but now things are different"

"No matter what, it will be great to return to Cota because it is a round I always enjoy." Pol Espargarò: "a good place to try what we found in the Misano tests"

MotoGP: Marquez:

Austin, along with the Sachsenring, is one of the magical tracks for Marc Marquez. On the Texan circuit, between 2013 and 2018, he scored six pole positions and as many victories, and it was only in 2019 that he failed to win due to a crash. At any other time Marc would be the favourite, but his physical condition is not yet 100% and the Circuit of the Americas is a very demanding track.

To find out what he will be able to do we will just have to wait, but the Spanish champion is the first to admit that he will tackle the US Grand Prix without putting too much pressure on himself, even though he knows that it remains a good opportunity for him and for Honda.

“I am looking forward to Austin and we’re arriving there after two good races, in Aragon and then in Misano. It’s a layout that I like and in the past we have had a lot of success but this year is a little bit different with our situation arriving there – he declared - Like always, it’s going to be important to build over the weekend and see where we line up on Sunday morning. No matter what it will be great to return because it’s a round I always enjoy a lot.”

Pol Espargarò, on the other hand, has never particularly shone in Texas (6th place in 2014 is his best result) but he needs a good weekend on a RC213V which he is still unable to get the best out of.

“After a good test I am excited to head to Austin, it’s a fun track to ride and it will be great to see some more MotoGP fans outside of Europe – he declared - We found a few things during testing in Misano and Austin will be a good place to try them because it’s a circuit with a lot of variety. I’ve had a few top tens there in the past so hopefully we can build on that base this weekend.”
