Rossi reckons the time has come for Bagnaia to win a MotoGP race

"I really hope that happens, I'll try to get some points. The team in MotoGP is not my problem, but we'll definitely be there."

MotoGP: Rossi reckons the time has come for Bagnaia to win a MotoGP race

Considering the penultimate place from which he will start tomorrow on the grid at Aragon, perhaps with Valentino Rossi it is better to start by talking about the race of someone else he knows well and who has very different goals - Pecco Bagnaia, who is part of his Academy and who today took pole with a stratospheric lap. The rider from Piedmont has been fast several times this season, but today he seems to have excelled even himself. Now all that remains is to take that final step that is still missing: to win a MotoGP race.

“In my opinion, the time has come for him to win, to break the jinx - said his mentor - He's going really fast, he's riding awesomely, the factory Ducatis are very fast and they are doing a great job with the team. Pecco has had various things go wrong this season, especially with the tires, otherwise he would have more points in the championship. I sincerely hope that tomorrow is the right time for him ”.

Probably he will have to deal with Quartararo, who is also on impeccable form…

"Fabio is able to make the most of Yamaha's strong points: braking and corner entry commented the Doctor - he has worked well with the team and managed to find grip when exiting corners, where I’m suffering instead. He is riding awesomely and has figured out how to go fast with the M1”.

Unlike Valentino this weekend, even if his mood is better than his position on the grid might suggest...

“Today went better than yesterday, right from the morning - he revealed - In FP3 I was 6 tenths from the best, but even here we are all very close together, it's incredible: practically the top 4 had the same time. In qualifying, unfortunately, I was unable to express my full potential because I was always in the middle of traffic, I could have done a bit better. "

Rossi has no intention of giving up however…

"It is difficult to say what will happen in the race, also because the choice of tires is very open - he continued - It will not be easy to choose, especially the rear one, either soft and hard are good, but some riders might race with the medium, it will depend so much on the temperatures. I am not as fast as I was at Silverstone, but we will try to improve the tire life again and to take some points ”.

His final comment was for those who asked him what the situation is with the sponsors for his MotoGP team.

"Honestly, I don't know, I didn't really understand it - he admitted - I'm not informed about the latest news, I thought everything was fine but there seem to be some critical issues. Fortunately, it’s not really my problem. In any case we will be in MotoGP next year, that I can assure you ”.
